Over the last few years, Rooney Mara has been our resident "it girl". She starred in three films that we hosted premieres for: Youth in Revolt, Dare and Tanner Hall - For which she won our 2010 Stargazer Award at the Gen Art Film Festival.
After taking the Gen Art film scene by storm, we sat back and watched Rooney's career skyrocket! She appeared in the Academy Award Winning film The Social Network opposite Jesse Eisenberg, as well as in the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street.
We are so proud to announce that Rooney Mara has gone from Gen Art sweetheart, to Golden Globe nominated actress for her work in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which is in theatres now.
Rooney had to undergo a major transformation to make her role as Lisbeth Salander a reality. With multiple piercings, bleached eyebrows and an attitude to match, Rooney's performance is a breakthrough for the young talent. We so are happy to see her come into the spotlight, as it is well deserved.
So if you haven't yet, now is the time to jump on the Rooney bandwagon!
It runs in the family. Before we met Rooney, we supported her sister Kate who starred in Transsiberian and happythankyoumoreplease. Both girls embody the talent that Gen Art works to put in the spotlight.
Don't forget to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo now in theatres nationwide.
