944 Media Hires New San Diego Publisher to Spearhead Market Operations
Lee Ann Hoshaw Capitalizes on Extensive Background in Magazine Publishing Focused on Tourism to Join 944 as Publisher of San Diego Edition
SAN DIEGO (December 15, 2008) - 944 Media, LLC ("944 Media") (http://www.944.com/) recently announced the hire of Lee Ann Hoshaw to the role of publisher for the 944 San Diego edition. As the former Senior Sales Manager for the American Automobile Association (AAA), Hoshaw will capitalize on her extensive roots in national and international media sales focused on tourism to spearhead city operations and drive revenue growth.
Hoshaw joins 944 San Diego as the company prepares to unveil a complete re-design with the release of the January 2009 issue.
"944 is truly experiencing the most aggressive growth I have witnessed with a media company in some time and I am very excited to be a part of their future," said Hoshaw. "944 truly understands their demographics' need for complete reader engagement and will not get caught in the likes of traditional print. 2009 promises an entirely new experience. The pages will jump. All digital media technologies will be utilized to keep the publication extremely current and engaging. The layout is fresh and clean. 944 will continue to set the standard for what's new and innovative in the print marketplace."
As the publisher of 944 San Diego, Lee Ann Hoshaw will capitalize on more than 20 years career experience working for such large-scale national brands as Microsoft, America Online, Time Warner and most recently as the Senior Sales Manager for the American Automobile Association (AAA). During her five-year tenure at AAA, Hoshaw sold across all 15 AAA travel magazines for a circulation of more than 9 million and tripled the company's revenue in her territory. While at Microsoft, she secured the No. 2-selling position in the country, selling the MSN local city guides, Hotmail and Expedia properties before moving on to America Online, where she ranked in the top 5 percent nationally through selling cross-platform advertising solutions to major travel and tourism partners in Southern California.
The addition of Hoshaw to the San Diego market further solidifies 944's strength in the print media industry, just two months after the company announced new leadership with the corporate appointments of Vice President of Publishing Sharyn Bires and National Sales Director Tiffany Cohen, formerly of Los Angeles magazine and Emmis Communications custom publishing arm. With ad pages down 13 percent industry wide, 944 continues to grow an upward of 10.8 percent in revenue from 2007.
Along with Hoshaw, 944 has also named new executive staff in the Los Angeles and Miami markets. As the publisher of 944 Los Angeles, Valarie Anderson brings more than 16 years experience in Los Angeles publishing to the company. Anderson hails from The Los Angeles Times, where she spearheaded dual roles as the fashion director and publisher of LA, The Los Angeles Times' Sunday magazine. Anderson was responsible for the re-design and re-launch of LA, LA Times Sunday magazine, which debuted this past fall as the most successful revenue-generating issue in the 30-year history of the magazine. Prior to the Times, Anderson worked for Sportswear International as the North American publisher, launching the LA Fashion Week special edition and the Canadian Fashion Week edition while creating a global presence with a European team. Her tenure as the West Coast Director for Women's Wear Daily and role as the Marketing Director for South Coast Plaza further attest to her deep roots in the international media environment.
Jason Mizrachi joins 944 Media as the Associate Publisher of 944 Miami, with 13 years under his belt at a myriad of companies including Citysearch, HYP Network LLC, JCDecaux NA, and BellSouth Advertising and Publishing. Mizrachi has created and supported successful advertising campaigns for clients such as Walt Disney, Bacardi, Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau and many more.
