WHAT: In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the iconic video game, Capcom launched the highly anticipated Street Fighter IV at an exclusive event for celebrities, media, and tastemakers. To celebrate the first Street Fighter game in over a decade, celebrities and VIPs got to preview the new game on X-B-x 360 and PlayStation 3 before it hits stores on February 17 by experiencing more than 100 gaming stations and a 20-year retrospective of the franchise and its pop culture relevance on art, anime, film, culture, toys, and more. There were also custom laser etching and t-shirt creations. Guests got a sneak peek of the new film Street Fighter: the Legend of Chun-Li. Producer Ashok Armitraj introduced Michael Clark Duncan, Taboo, Chris Klein, and Neal McDonough as part of the cast for the new film. VIPs enjoyed complimentary beverages as well as catering by Patina. DJ Qbert and DJ Tokyo Component provided the sounds for the evening as well as performances by Supreme Soul and The Knux, and a beatboxing showcase by Friday Night Light’s Scott Porter.
