Due to the overwhelming positive feedback from guests, the San Francisco Museum and Historical Society (SFMHS) in conjunction with Wolfgang’s Vault is pleased to re-open Backstage Pass: A Sweeping History of Rock ‘n’ Roll at the Old Mint to the public for four additional days.
The Backstage Pass re-opening will kick off with extended evening hours in the Old Mint Building on Thursday, July 16 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm. Following, the Old Mint, including its extraordinary vaults, will be open to the public from 12:00pm – 5:00pm for only three days for an exhibit of select works from Wolfgang’s Vault, the archive of Bill Graham Presents and one of the world’s largest collections of live concert recordings and music memorabilia.
More than 100 rarely seen historic banners, posters, photographs and videos of rock legends and concerts, including Carlos Santana, The Doors, The Grateful Dead, Huey Lewis and The News, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and Linda Ronstadt, to name a few, performing at San Francisco’s top concert venues will be on display.
The exhibit also presents the backstage door to Winterland, the site of some of the most memorable moments from rock ‘n roll history. Part of Wolfgang’s Vault’s permanent and not-for-sale collection, this door has only been seen on private tours of the Vault.
$10 per person. All proceeds will benefit the SFMHS education programs and facilities.
