Taming of the Screw

Taming of the Screw

We’re intrigued to hear of a new bar opening on Washington this spring called Bee Love. A new bar on Washington, you say? Shocking!

The organic bar will serve infused cocktails with no syrups or mixes...and will purportedly grow its own lemons, limes and oranges. Sadly, though, the birth of Bee Love means the closing of The Corkscrew on February 9. And here’s why we’re bummed.

Long before the Washington Corridor became the “it” place to be, The Corkscrew stood out as a well-stocked wine haven, hangout and quintessential date spot. Casual yet cozy, The Corkscrew (1919 Washington) has been taking care of customers one glass at a time since 2006. But alas, the wine bar will be closing its doors in order to open Bee Love in its place.

Wine bar closures have become more and more common lately, as The Wine Bucket and The Tasting Room’s Midtown location both decided to hang up their hats in January. We hope this trend stops here and now, as nothing offsets a stressful day at the office like a crisp, refreshing glass of pinot grigio at a local wine bar. Houston will miss you, Corkscrew. Stop by one last time tonight.
