The highly anticipated night of Friday the 13th is finally here. World-renowned DJ and record producer, Paul Oakenfold, is going to rock the night away at the 944 magazine February Issue Release Party at iLounge. Paul began his musical career in the late 1970’s by playing soul in a Covent Garden wine bar. He was also one of the early DJ’s during the 1980’s hip-hop era. Paul began breaking into the mainstream when he worked for Champion Records as an A&R person. He signed DJ Jazzy Jeff, Fresh Prince, and Salt-n-Pepa. Oakenfold also became popular by becoming a promoter and British agent for The Beatie Boys and Run D.M.C. In 1988, Paul and friend Steve Osborne created Perfecto Records, which released remixed songs and albums. Later he started making his own mix CDs and touring around the world. In 2005, he was contracted by Toyota to create a free promotional CD to promote a new Toyota car. He soon released a greatest hits album, which featured tracks by artists who had influenced his music. Some of the artists were The Cure, The Stone Roses, U2, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Madonna. Paul has created film scores for a variety of films and television shows such as Californication, The Bourne Conspiracy, Fever, and Speed Racer. In 2008, Paul Oakenfold became the first Resident DJ in the United States at the Rain Nightclub in Las Vegas, Nevada. The hype of tonight continues to spread and I for one cannot wait to see Paul Oakenfold make this city rage. 944 magazine invites you to join us tonight for an out of this world experience.
