Miss Newport Beach Teen Melanie Sitzer and Miss Newport Beach Phoenix Stanna represented their city at the Miss California USA pageant last weekend November 21st to 23rd in Palm Springs. The Riviera Resort and Spa hosted the event consisting of more than 45 contestants in both the Teen and Miss categories. The event consisted of a three-part performance. The first part of the event was swimsuit and evening gown, followed by one-on-one interviews with the panel of judges the next day and concluding in a final swimsuit, evening gown and on-stage interview question and answer portion. Our Newport Beach girls had tough competitions, but sized up wonderfully, specifically Miss Newport Beach Teen Melanie Sitzer. Standout teen was a beautiful representation of our SoCal city, strutting the runway with her fit frame and elegantly gliding in her evening gown. Newport Beach should be extremely proud of Miss Sitzer for her amazing performance this weekend. As for Miss Stanna, some improvements could most definitely be made. However, neither Stanna nor Sitzer placed. Pageants are a world of their own, it takes a courageous woman to complete this rough contest and Newport Beach should be proud of both title holders for 2008. Miss La Jolla, Carrie Prejean, 21, was crowned the 2009 Miss California USA and Miss Beaumont Teen USA, Chelsea Gilligan, 17, was crowned the 2009 Miss California Teen USA, Sunday, November 23.
