Cbssports.com football writer Gregg Doyel put up a pretty interesting article today about New Orleans Saints fullback Kyle Eckel, who played college ball at the U.S. Naval Academy.

You're probably thinking, "Wow, that's great. A proud veteran makes it to the big game in the NFL. Dreams do come true." Well, not exactly. The problem is that Eckel graduated in 2005. Since the academy requires all graduates to serve on active duty for at least 5 years, what's he doing playing professional football this season?

Some pretty interesting tidbits here, most notably the fact that no one involved (neither Eckel nor the Naval Academy) would go on record for the piece.

Take a read, and be ready for what will surely be much more coverage down the line.

My comment is this: I wonder how, in the age of everybody demanding their rights, can the likes of CBSNews and Ion television network, continually ignore the ADA laws that were supposed to provide for making life easier for the disabled. I'm complaining (is this loud enough?) about the fact that I came on to this site, wondering about football in Samoa and was met with no captioning. It makes me wonder if it's easy to keep the Deaf down because most of us aren't able to write this. Well, I'll tell you, I can and, not only for myself, but also for the millions, who cannot write this, I'd like to say, I'm sick of it!! When the ADA laws passed (and, believe it or not, that was 21 years ago), they were supposed allow for captioning, no later than 1993, which gave the industry five years. Well, it's 2010 and we're still waiting, while those Congressmen, who passed the laws, seemingly only did so to soothe their conscience, allowing them to say they'd done all they could!!
