Design director and former costume designer Vanessa Vogel believes you only need 10 versatile pieces to make a wardrobe - so she created Vogel10 to feature high quality, off-beat basics and essential accessories at more affordable prices. She talks to 944 about style...
944: How did you become a fashion stylist and designer?
Vanessa Vogel: I started working on films 15 years ago then started my clothing line "Part Vogel".
944: What about fashion inspires you? Favorite items?
VV: I love pieces that are versatile. It's not about the fashion it's more about what the person is wearing. I also love ethnic pieces.
944: What about your clothing line separates it from the rest out there?
VV: It's sold exclusively online. I am not trying to build an audience. People who are driven by trends are not people I want to deal with. Most of the people who order one thing usually order the same thing in another color. My customers have always been responsive towards the line.
944: Do you have a role model?
VV: My mentor Beatrix Pastor who is a costume designer is one of the more inspiring people I have worked with. I love that she does whatever she wants to do.
944: Who are some of your favorite designers?
VV: I like the Belgium designers. I also like surplus clothes or clothes that never go out of fashion.
944: Any upcoming projects?
VV: I have a photoshoot for my clothing line. This is a much more spontanous project.
