Although "summer" is a term used very loosely here in the City by the Bay, there's always the off-chance that we'll be blessed with a few perfect, sunny days. Sure, that layer of blubber kept you warm through winter, but there's no excuse to inflict the sight of it on the rest of us. Oh, and it's not healthy, either. Here are some surefire, fun ways to get in shape STAT.
INFORMED BODY PILATES
These 55-minute classes utilize a combination of Pilates mat and ballet barre techniques to build strength and lean out physiques, banish slouchy posture and promote flexibility, while walking gauntlet of nearby restaurants builds self-control.
Fun Fact: Owner Jill Harris has written The Five Guide — a book of health tips to go.

BAR METHOD
Be a celebrity — or just work out like one. This deadly four-fold punch integrating interval training, isometrics, dance conditioning and physical therapy will make you cry out in delicious agony and then weep with joy at the results.

WEDNESDAY NIGHTS ECSTATIC
DANCE AT SWEET'S BALLROOM
Loosely based on dancer Gabrille Roth's 5 Rhythms, Ecstatic Dance is a weekly three-hour sesh of free-form twirling, dancing, flailing, massage and partner yoga, (yeah, you read that right) on an 8,000-square-foot dance floor to the sounds of a cast of rotating resident dubstep, break, hip-hop, progressive, tribal and tech DJs with special guests.
Fun Fact: There's only two rules: No talking on the dance floor, and participants must remain clothed from the waist down.

DOLPHIN SWIM CLUB
Dolphin club psychos members swim year-round in the choppy waters of Aquatic Park where temperatures vary from about 50 degrees in January to a high of around 60 degrees in September. Members of the mileage club who swim at least 40 miles between December 21 and March 21, are honored as an official Dolphin Club Polar Bear, or are devoured by sharks — whichever comes first.
Fun Fact: Honorary Dolphin Club life member Jack LaLanne, once towed a rowboat from Alcatraz to the club in less than 90 minutes.
