Artisan alcohol group Modern Spirits launched its environmentally conscious company Tru Organic Spirits to give customers the option to buy organic booze for their next soirèe. Imbibers can choose from three varieties of organic vodka, all made with 100-percent certified organic American wheat: lemon vodka, which is infused with the vibrant citrus flavor of hand-zested organic lemons; vanilla vodka, which touts sweet tasting notes from its infusion of organic Bourbon vanilla beans; or the original straight vodka, a smooth classic with a neutral finish.

Tru Organic Spirits also offers organic Tru2 Gin, which brings together a fresh blend of botanicals including juniper berries, lavender, lemon zest, angelica root, vanilla beans, cloves, fennel and chamomile for its full flavor and amber hue. Besides its use of organic ingredients (which, of course, helps support organic farmers), the company integrates eco-friendly aspects whenever possible, like using recyclable shrink tops and cork, labels printed with soy ink on sustainable corn paper and shipping boxes composed of 35 percent post-consumer recycled materials. Even the bottles use 25 percent less glass than other premium vodka brands, which not only limits the use of materials, but it makes for a lighter shipping load while transporting the bottles.
Another earth-loving perk? Tru Organic Spirits plants one tree in South America for each bottle of Tru vodka purchased. So far, 50,052 trees have been planted.

Green Day
2 oz. Tru Organic Lemon vodka
2 honeydew melon wedges
2 cucumber slices
1 oz. simple syrup
Squeeze of fresh lime juice
basil leaf
Muddle cucumber, melon and basil. Add lime juice and simple syrup.
Fill glass with ice. Add vodka and top with soda. Stir and serve.
