Red comes in all forms this week. First, the obvious: My homeboy Cupid will be out and about on Sunday, impaling more tushes than ... well, I had a really dirty joke to insert here, but I'm going to spare my mom. But you can imagine. Happy Valentine's Day to everyone in advance. And if you don't have a Valentine, treat yourself to something fun like a steak dinner or a box of wine with all that money you're saving.
Backing up to tomorrow night, red comes in the form of the red lipstick I'm hoping to find in the next 24 hours to wear to the Old Hollywood-themed Rat Pack Revelry, celebrating 944's Young Hollywood Issue at Top of the Hyatt, along with Yelp, from 7 to 10 p.m. We're talking dirty (and hosted!) martinis, live jazz, hosted bites and an old-school vibe, as reinvented by young lookers, of course. RSVP to www.944.com/ratpack
And then Friday is my favorite red incarnation: the annual Go Red for Women luncheon at the Hotel Del Coronado. We're talking hundreds of prominent, fabulous business leaders in San Diego, who just so happen to be women, who also just so happen to be impacted by heart disease in some way; either they have it, have a family member battling it, or just care about stopping the No. 1 killer of women in San Diego, in the whole country, for that matter. Deck yourself out in red and join me and the 944 team, starting at 10 a.m. For details and/or to donate to the cause, check out www.sdgored.org
I'll definitely be out and about, painting the town red this weekend. Come by any of the above and say hi. Just don't bring Cupid with you. My bum is sore enough as it is … from abusing the stair climber at the gym! Get your heads out of the gutter, people. I'm still proving to Mom I can go at least 25 sentences without a dirty joke. Almost there!
