La Condesa Gourmet Taco Shop
For those looking to enjoy authentic Mexican food, but would like to leave the fried, greasy mess out of the picture, visit La Condesa Gourmet Taco Shop. In late February, Felipe and Cristina Guzman, who are originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, wanted to open their own restaurant because they both share a love for cooking food (especially dishes native to their country). “Our food is not greasy. Only fresh ingredients are used,” says Felipe.

Though the pair originally planned to be open only for lunch, the shop’s popularity among locals has grown enough that they now offer dinner service as well. That surge in business is most likely due to a menu consisting of dishes that utilize ingredients inspired by not only Guadalajara, but the Guzman’s travels across Mexico and traditional family recipes. We recommend the Oaxaca Black Mole Chicken Shark Taco, a shredded chicken taco mixed with an assortment of spices and chilies (that Felipe keeps secret), nuts and a rich chocolate sauce. It sounds like a weird combination of ingredients, but the flavors are something not to be missed!
